The slice model that behaves like a builder
Partner
Prismic's slice model is the closest a structured CMS gets to a page builder. Editors assemble a page from a fixed library of components, a hero, a stat block, a form, that a developer built and defined once, so the page looks flexible without ever risking a broken layout.
We have used it to move two enterprise sites off WordPress without an editor noticing the difference on day one, and its Integration Fields to pull live provider data from a third-party API straight into a content field. We build the slice library once and the editorial team runs the site after that.

Why Prismic, and when
- Slices give structure a builder-like feel
Every page is assembled from a fixed set of developer-built slices: heroes, forms, content blocks, navigation. Walden Robotics runs its whole marketing site on nineteen of them, which means new pages ship by composing, not by requesting a new template.
- It swallows a legacy WordPress migration cleanly
The Decision Lab and MacStadium both moved off older platforms into Prismic without losing the character of the original site. Converting an entrenched WordPress build into slices is exactly the kind of migration Prismic is built to absorb.
- Integration Fields put outside data inside a content field
CLS Health's provider directory syncs from the Kyruus Health API into Prismic every thirty minutes through an Integration Field, so specialties, credentials, and contact info stay current without anyone editing a page by hand.
- Draft mode previews without breaking static performance
Editors preview unpublished changes before anything goes live, while the published site stays statically generated. Walden Robotics gets both: instant editorial feedback and the page speed that only comes from not rendering on every request.
The grain
Working with Prismic, not against it
- The slice library is a commitment, not a menu
Every layout an editor might want has to exist as a slice before they can use it. That is real, upfront developer work, and it is also why editors never end up with a page that quietly breaks the design system.
- It is a content tool, not a data platform
Prismic holds pages and structured content well. It is not where we put a product catalog or a patient record; CLS Health's provider data still lives in Kyruus, Prismic just displays it. Know which system owns which fact.
- Migrations preserve the site, not just the words
Moving The Decision Lab off WordPress was not a copy-paste job. Thousands of pages with years of overlapping fixes had to be rationalized into a smaller set of slices before a single piece of content moved.
