Three Notch Group, a regional consulting firm with roots dating back to 1946, has long been a trusted guide in the environment and infrastructure sectors. Formerly known as CDG, the firm sought a digital transformation to reflect its evolution and continued commitment to guiding clients through complex projects. The new name, inspired by historical trail markers, symbolizes the firm's role in leading clients toward successful outcomes.


The Trailblazing Brand
The visual identity for Three Notch Group finds its heart in a powerful and evocative symbol: three distinct notches. Inspired by the historical practice of early trailblazers marking their paths on trees, this mark became the cornerstone of their brand.
Our approach centered on distilling this core idea into a meticulously crafted brand mark. The three notches, carefully proportioned and balanced, serve as a visual shorthand for the company's name and its guiding principle of clear direction. This mark is designed for versatility, capable of standing strong on its own or integrating seamlessly with the Three Notch Group logotype in various lockup configurations.
Understanding the importance of consistency in building brand recognition, Monogram established clear guidelines for the use of the brand mark. To ensure its integrity and impact across all applications, it was crucial that the mark remain unaltered, with its precise construction and proportions strictly maintained. This dedication to detail ensures a cohesive and professional brand presence for Three Notch Group as they forge their own path.
Leaving Their Mark
To further solidify the Three Notch Group brand presence, Monogram extended the visual identity into a range of practical and high-impact merchandise. We developed branded hard hats and safety vests, as well as custom truck decals for their fleet vehicles. These essential items not only ensure team safety but also serve as mobile brand ambassadors on job sites.
We also designed branded golf balls, providing a refined touchpoint that subtly extends the Three Notch Group brand into leisure activities. Each piece of swag was carefully considered to ensure consistent application of the brand mark and overall aesthetic, strengthening brand recognition across various touchpoints.

To mirror Three Notch Group's comprehensive services—ranging from civil engineering to environmental consulting—the website was designed with a modular architecture. This structure allows for scalability and easy integration of new services, ensuring the site grows alongside the firm's expanding offerings. Astro’s modern rendering approach—blending static generation with server-side capabilities—ensures blazing-fast load times and optimal performance across all devices. Paired with DatoCMS, a robust and developer-friendly headless CMS, teams gain powerful content modeling tools, real-time previews, and seamless GraphQL APIs. This integration allows content editors to update pages instantly without touching code or triggering redeploys, keeping workflows efficient and content fresh. Together, Astro and DatoCMS offer a scalable, flexible, and maintainable foundation that empowers teams to create dynamic digital experiences with confidence and speed.

Powered by DatoCMS's structured content model, the site supports highly modular and responsive layouts that scale effortlessly across devices. DatoCMS offers intuitive content editing, real-time previews, and customizable workflows, enabling teams to manage and publish updates with ease. Its flexible schema system and powerful GraphQL API allow for seamless integration with development pipelines and third-party tools.
